What Should I Bring to the Galapagos Islands?

In this section, we’ve included a handy list of everything you’ll want to bring with you to the Galapagos Islands. Please remember that flights to Galapagos restrict checked luggage to one (1) piece that does not exceed 23 kg (50 lb). Hand luggage cannot exceed 8 kg (17 lb).

GALAPAGOS ESSENTIALS

– Passport
– Tickets & printed itineraries
– Travel insurance

– Cash (US Dollars)
– Prescription drugs

GALAPAGOS CLOTHING

– Lightweight hiking shoes
– Water-resistant, closed-toe sport sandals
– Anti-slip sandals for onboard
– Hiking Shorts
– Lightweight hiking pants
– Casual pants and shorts (men)
– Casual dress, skirt, shorts or pants (women)
– Short-sleeve T-shirts
– Long-sleeve shirts or rash guards for sun protection
– Underwear
– Socks (normal and for hiking)
– Bathing suits (minimum 2) + short-sleeve (shorty) wetsuit**
– Windbreaker jacket
– Warm sweater or fleece

GALAPAGOS ACCESSORIES

– Sunglasses (optional: neck strap)
– Wide-brimmed hat or cap
– Bandana

– Toiletry kit
– Sunblock & lip balm (waterproof + SPF 50 or higher)
– Insect repellent
– Small backpack/daypack (preferably waterproof)

– Appliance chargers and adaptors if necessary (outlets in Ecuador are US-style, 2 flat pins (Type A & B), 110 volts.
– Prescription snorkeling mask or specialized snorkel equipment*
– Sealable plastic bags of various sizes

*Be aware that snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, and fins) are provided as part of your tour, free of charge.
**Short-sleeve (shorty) wetsuits are available onboard for rent.
